If you are using the liquid form of this medication, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.

To treat nausea and vomiting: Take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually every 4 hours as needed or as directed by your doctor. To prevent nausea and vomiting from surgery: Take this medication by mouth with or without food at least 2 hours before the start of surgery.

For motion sickness, cyclizine is usually started at least 1 hour before you travel or take part in activity that causes nausea/vomiting. To prevent nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy, cyclizine is usually started the night before chemotherapy and continued for 1 to 2 days after chemotherapy.

Cyclizine may be only part of a complete program of treatment that may also include other medications (such as anti-nausea medications, pain relief medications, or a sedative-hypnotic medication). Follow your doctor’s instructions.
